Habonim's future leaders
Submitted by admin on Wed, 14/11/2007 - 05:41.
Habonim Dror South Africa's Shnattie group of 18 young leaders were "entertained" in early November by graduates of the movement living in Israel.
The group is on a one year training program involving wide-ranging programs from working on agricultural settlements (moshav/kibbutz) to assisting in local schools in the greater Tel Aviv area.
Former Habonim graduates Dave Kaplan, Steve Shulman, Howard Gordon, Dave Bloom, Hilary Kaplan and Michelle Wolf arranged an evening of films, songs, jokes and some serious discussion with the group who are currently based in Holon south of Tel Aviv.
The group's progams are being partly hosted by the Noar Haoved Israeli Movement and World Habonim with two madrichim Avi Perpinyal (S.A.) and Mika (israel) supervising their day to day needs.
The highly successful evening was a mixture of viewing films from the Habonim Dror 75th Anniversary celebrations in 2005, hearing some of the older songs, stories from the veterans and some discussions on the perspective of their experience in Israel and its impact on their thinking.
The enthusiasm and energy from the group was obvious to see and "bodes well for the future of Habonim Dror in South Africa," said Howie Gordon from Kibbutz Tzorah.
