Way to go SA Cricketers!

Elnatan Meiri (in the middle - back row) with the Team and their Gold medals!

The 20th Maccabiah cricket tournament, from Wednesday 5th  to Thursday 13th July 2017, was an extra special event for our South African cricketers.

The team played 4 matches on its way to the final. They narrowly lost the opening game against Australia by one wicket where the last Australian batsman was dropped twice. All the other participating teams viz Israel, Great Britain and India were beaten easily.

In the finals, South Africa gained their revenge against Australia winning by 20 runs to claim the gold medal.

The average age of the S.A. team was 25 with 7 players from Johannesberg,4 from Cape Town and 1 from Port Elizabeth, Elnatan Meiri who is only 18 and still at school. He acquitted himself well both with bat and as the team wicket keeper. Although an opening batsman himself ,because of the strength of the team, he had to bat way down the order, but nevertheless did all that was expected of him.

Elnatan expressed his appreciation to all his sponsors - especially to Telfed, for their assistance.
