Successful conclusion to the PRAS 2017-18 year

The Pras closing ceremony for the 2017-18 academic year was held at Bar Ilan University on 21 June 2018. The gathering began with group sessions with the PRAS coordinators and students. This was followed by the end of year ceremony.

Shelly Cohen, Chairman of the ESP committee, welcomed everyone to the ceremony and thanked the students for their hard work and commitment to the Pras programme, to their Pras families and to the olim community.

One of the highlights of the evening was hearing about the interaction between Pras student, Aryeh Goldsmith, and South African oleh, Anthony Meisels.

Aryeh is a 1st year Political Science student at Tel Aviv University and has been volunteering with Anthony since the start of the 2017-2018 Pras year. Aryeh shared his personal experience of volunteering with Anthony and the wonderful (and unexpected) friendship that has developed between them. The opportunity to assist Anthony is especially touching to Aryeh as he and his family are also olim from South Africa. The students were honored to hear Anthony's personal account of the foundation that Telfed was built on and how he was actively involved in Telfed for 25 years. Hearing Anthony's heartfelt experience as a client of Pras was both moving and inspiring.

Dana Levy Tavor, Head of Telfed's Scholarships Department, spoke about the Pras programme, the unparalleled experience that is afforded to both clients and students, and importance of instilling an ethos of volunteerism in the youth. It was a wonderful evening, and Telfed's Scholarship Department and ESP Committee look forward, with great excitement, to the start of the next Pras Programme in November 2018.
