Telfed supports Perot Ha'ilan Scholarships at Machon Lev

Telfed Jerusalem Regional Committee Chairman, Roy Scher hands out one of Telfed's Scholarships to a  grateful student.

It was a  wonderful evening arranged by Machon Lev (The Jerusalem College of Technology), where approximately 100 students,  (both male & female) gathered together in the auditorium, with family members of the late Major Ilan Riez.

The evening was opened with an introductory speech by the Vice President of Machon Lev who gave a heartwarming insight to a special man, Ilan z'l, a successful IDF officer and wonderful family man, who tragically passed away in the prime of his life.

This was followed by a short talk and Davar Torah delivered by the President of Machon Lev, Professor Sukenik, about the importance of this special program which incorporates Ethiopian students in higher learning. Adi Yunis, the devoted coordinator of all Ethiopian students at Machon Lev, addressed them with emotional words of authoritative caring.

Others who addressed the audience were Ilan's mother in law, Bella Shteiner, who read a very emotional poem she wrote about Ilan ז"ל, as well as an insight about her late husband, who was the founder of this education fund. Telfed's representative to the event, Jerusalem Regional Committee Chairman, Roy Scher, said a few words about Telfed as well as the importance of the program. Roy encouraged the students to take advantage of the scholarship and the warm, caring and encouraging atmosphere which they are fortunate to receive at Machon Lev, in order to succeed with their studies and the future which lies ahead. Telfed distributed 10 Scholarships in support of the educational initiative for Ethiopian students.

After the scholarships were awarded, a representative of the students expressed their collective appreciation, after which the group davened Ma'ariv.  We are pleased to be able to continue to assist the students at Machon Lev, thanks to the support we receive from an international network of friends and donors.
