Telfed leadership meets with Israel Encounter Group

On Wednesday 3rd January, a small Telfed delegation went to Yehud to meet one of the Israel Encounter student groups from King David in Israel at the moment. Israel Encounter is a programme for 11th grade students in South Africa, who engage with Israel by travelling the land and experiencing it in different ways.

Dorron Kline (CEO), Batya Shmukler (Chairman) and Shely Cohen (Directorate) went to meet them and speak to them about the general support services that Telfed offers to Olim and students in particular.

Dorron opened with a brief history of Telfed, which the students enjoyed and engaged with. A family connection was even made with one of the students and the legendary Smoky Simon.

Batya explained the various activities that Telfed undertakes and Shely presented the different scholarship options open to South African students studying in Israel. The students were interested, curious and engaging, and a number stayed afterwards to continue the discussion. It was a very successful meeting between 2 entities who hopefully will ‘encounter’ one another again.

Telfed representatives met with all five 2017/8 Israel Encounter groups, at different venues throughout Israel. To view photos on Telfed's Facebook page - click here
